1000+ Concerts Reaches Halfway Mark with 500th Performance
May 21st, 2026, marked an important milestone for the EU co-funded project 1000+ Concerts: Higher Music Education Through Social Inclusion! The 500th concert of the initiative has been performed. Reaching the 500-concert mark also represents the halfway point of the project’s goal of presenting 1000 concerts during the project period.
The 500th concert was presented during the Musethica Session held in Zaragoza from May 16th-23rd 2026, and took place in the intensive care unit of the Royo Villanova Hospital in Zaragoza. The occasion brought together tutor Mariano García and the saxophone ensemble Osimun Quartet, consisting of Fátima Alcázar, Ricard Martínez, Marta Cid and Carlos Segura. For the 500th concert, the musicians presented a programme that combined the quartet’s own arrangements of works by Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn and György Ligeti, alongside compositions by Henryk Wieniawski and Joan Pérez-Villegas.
Reaching the halfway point is a significant milestone for the project, demonstrating the continued collaboration of partner institutions across Europe and the sustained commitment to making live music accessible in social settings.
We congratulate all musicians, tutors, project partners and institutions involved in reaching the halfway point and look ahead to the next 500 concerts.
