Alicia Salas
Alicia currently holds the position of Principal Viola in the National Orchestra of Spain.
She studied at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Murcia with Antonio Clares, and at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Aragon with Alan Kovacs, graduating in 2008 with top honors. She was a student at the Barenboim-Said Foundation's Academy of Orchestral Studies in Seville, studying with Felix Schwartz and Julia Deyneka. She pursued postgraduate studies with Avri Levitan and received masterclasses from Tabea Zimmermann, Barbara Westphal, Amihai Grosz, and Wilfried Strehle.
Under the guidance of Rainer Schmidt, she completed her Master's degree in Chamber Music in 2018 at the Basel Conservatory with the Kinnara Quartet.
She won first prize at the "Ciutat de Lliria 2011" International Young Performers Competition and received the award for Best Musical Interpretation at the "Mirabent i Magrans" International Chamber Music Competition (Sitges, Barcelona) in 2011.
Her experience in chamber music has led her to participate in various festivals such as the “Schubertiade of Vilabertran” in Girona, the “Kfar Blum Chamber Music Festival” in Israel, the “Bode Museum Music Festival” in Berlin, the “Aurora Chamber Music Festival” in Sweden, and the “Academia Sighisoara” in Romania.
She has collaborated with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of La Scala in Milan, the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Cadaqués Orchestra, the Valencia Orchestra, the Palau de Les Arts Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, and the Bilbao Orchestra, among others.
She is a founding member of the “Camerata de Murcia” and the music project “Musethica,” with which she has participated in festivals in Zaragoza, Tel Aviv, and Berlin, sharing the stage with internationally renowned musicians.
As a soloist, she has performed Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante and Bruch’s Double Concerto with the Orquesta Bética and the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia.
She has served as a Viola Specialist Professor at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Castilla-La Mancha (Albacete) and has taught in youth orchestras such as JONC and JORVAL.
