Premiere with the HfM Detmold in May 2025
From May 2nd to 11th, Musethica visited Detmold for the first time – in cooperation with our new partner, the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. Three students from the university – Emilija Mladenovic (cello), Elisabeth Hutterer (violin), and Shirin Aimée Schulz (violin) – worked with tutor Alexander Gebert (cello) and Avri Levitan (viola). The program included Beethoven’s String Trio in E-flat major, Op. 3, and Arensky’s String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 35.
In just six days, the ensemble performed eleven concerts in various social institutions in the region, including a men's correctional facility, the Lippe Clinic, psychiatric institutions, and several workshops for people with disabilities.
Both the local Westfalen-Blatt and the Lippische Landes-Zeitung reported on the concert at the correctional facility. For most of the inmates, it was the first classical concert of their lives. “We’ve had rock, pop, blues – we’ve seen all of that here. But never classical music,” said Ralf Weber, prison officer and recreation coordinator, to the Westfalen-Blatt. The audience was focused and attentive, and in the end, even asked for an encore. The full article in the Westfalen-Blatt is available here [behind a paywall].
In addition to the concerts, the musicians participated in the Art of Practicing seminar, led by Avri Levitan. This format offers space for in-depth exchange about practice methods – individually or as an ensemble.
The week concluded with a public concert in the Brahms Hall of the university.
