Musethica Returns to TuP Essen
From May 25th to June 3rd, Musethica returned to Essen. In cooperation with the Theater and Philharmonic Essen, the session took place for the second time as part of the Philharmonie vor Ort programme.
Together with violinist and tutor Roi Shiloah, Meriel Bizri (violin), Ruby Shirres (viola), Wiktoria Błaszczak (viola), and Eva Mazia (cello) worked on Mozart’s String Quintet No. 4 in G minor and Mendelssohn’s String Quintet No. 2 in B-flat major.
Several institutions, including the Essen correctional facility and the palliative care clinic, once again opened their doors to Musethica. For the first time, the transitional housing for refugees on Papestraße, the St. Josefshaus children’s home, and the Esmarchstraße residence for people with mental illnesses were also part of the programme.
The local TV format, WDR Lokalzeit Ruhr, covered the session on May 28th, 2025; the segment is available in the media library here (starting at minute 19:00).
The week concluded with two public concerts: one in Essen’s historic Marktkirche, and another at the Philharmonie Essen, as part of the season presentation by the Theater and Philharmonic Essen (TuP). Both concerts gave audiences the opportunity to experience the ensemble in very different settings – intimate and approachable, but also on a grand stage.
