Júlia Gállego

Julia Gállego studied flute at the Óscar Esplá Conservatory in Alicante, the Hector Berlioz Conservatory in Paris, and the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, with professors Alain Marion, Raymond Guiot, Sophie Cherrier, and Vincent Lucas. She furthered her education with Jaime Martín, M. Bourgue, and PL Aimard, and received several awards such as the First Prize in the Montserrat Alavedra Competition with the Haizea Quintet in 1994, the Premier Prix à l’unanimité du jury from the CNSM in Paris in 1997, and the First Prize and Audience Special Prize in the ARD Competition in Munich, as part of the Miró Ensemble quintet in 2001.

She has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (1992-1996) and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (1997-2001), and has served as principal flute of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (1997-1999) and the Galicia Symphony Orchestra (2001-2002).

Noteworthy are her collaborations with the Cadaqués Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the HR Frankfurt, the BR München, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic, working with renowned conductors such as C. Abbado, D. Harding, P. Boulez, M. Jansons, F. Brüggen, S. Ozawa.

As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed with Gordan Nikolic, R. Capuçon, D. Grimal, G. Caussé, H. Demarquette, F. Braley, R. Vlatkovic, among others, and regularly participates in International Chamber Music Festivals.

She has recently performed in the United States at the Charlottesville International Chamber Music Festival. She is currently a member of the prestigious Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, and is co-founder and principal flute of "BandArt".
